Men's Basketball Makes it Four in a Row

HARRODSBURG, Kent-  The Men's Basketball team traveled down to Kentucky for the final time this season to take on Campbellsville Harrodsburg. CU Harrodsburg Tigers are members of the USCAA. The Crusaders came out the gate early building a 19-11 lead. GLCC did not look back the rest of the game. The Crusaders held the lead for the entire forty minutes, and were never threatened by the Tigers throughout the game. In the first half the Crusaders stifled the Tigers with their zone defense forcing the Tigers to shoot a mere 24 percent from the floor and 0/8 from three. The Crusaders only weak point was on the boards the Tigers crashed the glass hard and that turned out to be there best offense. Isiah Reed led the Crusaders in the first half scoring 15 of his game high 22 in the first frame. Jahmal Eggleston continued his strong play off the bench scoring 10 first half points. The Crusaders would go into the half up 47-28.

In the second half GLCC started off very slow, turning it over 4 out of their first 6 possessions which allowed the Tigers to trim the GLCC lead to 13 points. The Crusaders would settle in and allow their zone to continue to give the Tigers fits. In the second half Crusaders offense struggled to get going and get quality looks against the pressure of the Tigers, but midway through the half the Crusaders clicked and made the run to put the game out of reach. GLCC would build leads of 20 on four separate occasions throughout the game. GLCC would go on to win their fourth game in a row and 12th of the season by the score of 78-64. 12 wins surpasses last years win total, and matches the win total of the program over the last three seasons.

What Coach Says:

"We always enjoying winning on the road. I thought our guys first half was really strong. I was really proud of the way we played both offensively and defensively. In the second half I thought we made things tough on ourselves with silly turnovers and poor effort on the glass. We will need to continue to clean those things up if we want to get to the level we know we can." On what surpassing last years win total, "It is a great accomplishment for our guys. I am very proud of these guy. I have known all year this group can be very special. We have to keep embracing the process of becoming the team we can be." On matchup with #1 Grace Christian University, "This is a big time matchup on a big time stage. I am excited for the opportunity our guys will have. Coach Bailey has a really good team and their program is one of the ELITE at the NCCAA level. I am excited to see our guys rise to the occasion."
