Men's JV Holds Off Madonna JV At Home

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College JV men's basketball survived a late comeback attempt by the visiting Madonna University JV team, winning at home 81-77.

Great Lakes took an early lead and held on to a sing-digit advantage throughout most of the first half, taking a 49-40 lead to halftime.

GLCC's lead waxed and waned between double and single digits in the second half, with a Damari Reid basket putting them up 78-68 with 2:33 left. Madonna went on a run, scoring nine points in 39 seconds to cut the lead to one with 58 seconds left. Antone Matthews, who led Great Lakes with 24 points, made three of four free throws down the stretch to hold off Madonna, 81-77.

Gehringer Ramirez led all scorers with 25 for Madonna. Geordan Duncan scored 13 and picked up 11 rebounds. Aside from Matthews' 24, three other GLCC players scored in double digits, including Marcus Riley, who scored 14 and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Madonna shot 34/84 (40.5%) from the floor and 6/23 (26.1%) from three. Great Lakes made 33 of 89 field goal attempts (37.1%) and 10 of 39 three-point attempts (25.6%).
