Men's Soccer Announces 2019 Schedule

The Great Lakes Christian College Men's Soccer program announced its 2019 schedule on Thursday afternoon, as the Crusaders will host 8 of 16 games throughout the regular season. The schedule includes nine games against NCCAA DII competition. The Crusaders are bringing soccer back to West Lansing, after a year hiatus as the program transitioned into this new era with a new coach and a roster fresh with new faces. Coach Ian Kurth was hired in September of 2018 to build the Crusader program back to it's once proud tradition.

The Crusaders will open their season at home on August 31st as they take on Boyce College at 4:00pm. The Crusaders first month of the season is filled with plenty of tests including from NCAA DIII Bluffton College. The young Crusader footballers will be on the road 6 of their first 9 games of their season including trips to Nashville and Chicago. They also take on perrenial NCCAA DII power Grace Christian University in Grand Rapids on September 25th.

In the last half of the schedule the Crusaders finish five of their last seven games at home including their last three all at Henderson Field. The Crusaders will host Appalachain Bible, Andrews University, Welch College, Moody Bible, and Grace Christian University in October.

Coach Ian Kurth had this to say about the schedule for this upcoming season:

"We have built a schedule in year one that will challenge our young team while providing valuable experience for the future of our program."

Expectations heading into the first year of the program:

"We expect our team will be the hardest working team on the field, competing in every match for the full 90 minutes no matter the end result."

What are you most excited about this upcoming season:

"I will be excited for our home opener August 31st when this group of young men get to take the field together as a team for the very first time. I will be even more excited when they get their first win."
