LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball could not overcome a poor shooting performance in Thursday night's return home against the USCAA Andrews University Cardinals, losing 68-43.
The game was close for much of the first quarter, but an 11-0 run by the Cardinals put the visitors ahead by 15 in the second. Great Lakes had a difficult time scoring in the first half, going the first five minutes of the game without any points and shooting only 12% from the field at one point. Andrews continued to pull away as the second quarter wore on, taking a comfortable 34-18 lead to halftime.
The Cardinals kept building their lead in the third, opening the second half on an 8-0 run and leading by as many as 31 points in the game. GLCC scored six unanswered at one point in the third and outscored Andrews 15-14 in the fourth, but it not enough to begin a comeback as the Cardinals took a 68-43 win.
- Great Lakes finished the night shooting only 24.7% (19/77) from the floor, while Andrews made 47.5% (28/59) of their field goal attempts.
- Andrews' 27 turnovers gave the ladies plenty of shooting opportunities, but their poor performance from the field canceled that advantage.
- Andrews' Jayde Broussard led all players with 20 points and 17 rebounds.
- Kerlunda Dervil led GLCC with 13 points, Mystic Striker led the team with 16 rebounds.
