Women's Basketball Upset Bid Comes Up Short vs. Spring Arbor

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball (0-9) put up a strong fight with NAIA II Spring Arbor University (4-9) on Thursday night, but ultimately fell short, 68-46.

Oghenehoke Johnson scored first to put Great Lakes ahead, and while the Cougars quickly took the lead over, the home team never went away. Spring Arbor led 13-9 at the end of the first and extended their lead to six in the second, but GLCC clawed its way back, closing the deficit to 26-25 by halftime.

Kerlunda Durvil buried a three-pointer early in the third quarter to tie the game at 28. Spring Arbor retook the lead, but Great Lakes hung around, trailing 44-37 going into the fourth.

The Cougars finally started to pull away in the fourth, outscoring Great Lakes 24-9 in the final quarter to take home a 68-46 win.

  • Spring Arbor outrebounded GLCC 49-37.
  • Great Lakes continued to struggle from the floor, shooting 18/68 (26.5%).
