Women's Basketball Drop Home Regional Contest to Grace

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball (0-20, 0-2) came up short in a matchup with regional rival Grace Christian University 14-15 (8-4) on Wednesday night, losing 70-50.

Great Lakes took an early 6-4 lead, but a 22-9 run by the visiting Tigers put them ahead for good. Great Lakes outscored Grace in the second quarter, keeping the deficit within single digits, 32-23, at halftime.

Great Lakes trimmed the lead to six in the fourth quarter, but ultimately Grace had too much depth for the hosts to keep up, and they slowly built their lead over the second half, taking away a 70-50 win.

  • Mystic Striker led all scorers with 21 points and picked up another double-double with 12 rebounds.
  • Oghenehoke Johnson also had a double-double, scoring 12 and grabbing 10 boards.
  • Great Lakes and Grace shot very evenly for the game from the floor, GLCC making 23 of 62 attempts (37.1%) and Grace making 24 of their 62 (38.7%).
  • Grace was much more effective from outside, however, making 9/22 three-point attempts (40.9%) to Great Lakes' 2/11 (18.2%).
