Women's Basketball Drops Season Opener at Trinity International

DEERFIELD, Ill. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball came up short in their season opener on Friday night, 87-70 to Trinity International.

The Trojans jumped out to an early lead but couldn't shake the visitors, who cut TIU's lead from 12 to three in the second quarter, going into halftime down 38-34.

Trinity pulled away in the third quarter, however, going on an 18-2 run to take a 20-point lead. They pushed their lead all the way to 27 points in the fourth quarter before closing out a 87-70 win.

Kerlunda Dervil led all scorers with 31 points. Tilly Guild picked up a double-double in her Great Lakes debut (18 points and 12 rebounds), as did returning leading scorer Mystic Striker (13 points and 11 rebounds).

Five Trojans scored in double-digits, led by Taylor Hibicke, who scored 24 points and picked up 11 rebounds.

Great Lakes shot 27/60 from the floor (45%) despite missing all three of their three-point attempts. Trinity made 35.6% of their shots (32/90) and outrebounded GLCC 52-39.
