Striker named second-team All-Region

LANSING, Mich. - Sophomore Mystic Striker has been named second-team All-Region in the Mid-East region of NCAA Division II women's basketball, Great Lakes Christian College announced Monday.

"Mystic is a high-level player," said head coach Richard Westerlund. "She's one of the best scorers and rebounders in the country. She works very hard and has overcome a lot to be where she is. I couldn't be more proud of her."

Striker's season was in doubt during the summer of 2019 after a climbing accident caused her to lose part of her middle finger on her shooting hand. However, with physical therapy and practice, Striker bounced back to pace Great Lakes in scoring and rebounding in 2019-20, averaging 17.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, helping to propel the team to its first wins in nearly two years.

Striker will return in the fall as the squad looks to compete for its first regional title. Great Lakes is currently undertaking a national search for a new head coach for 2020-21.
