Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Night In Style

LANSING, Mich.

 

It was a fantastic weekend for the Great Lakes Christian College women's soccer program.

The Crusaders played NCAA D3 Mount Mary University on Saturday followed by USCAA program Andrews University on Sunday.
 
On Saturday, the Crusaders celebrated seniors Payton Olmstead, Solara Sheldo,n and Randi Fitzgerald in a resounding 11 - 0 victory over Mount Mary! Fitzgerald showed why she is the leading goal scorer in program history by adding 4 more goals to her name. Sheldon (x2) and Olmstead also got on the score sheet!
 
The Crusaders came out firing and never really took their foot off the pedal with the back line also keeping Mount Mary off the score sheet. A first goal for freshman Angelica Coretti helped cap off a great day at Henderson Field! Caroline Huistra earned a clean sheet in net.

Sunday the Crusaders hosted USCAA side Andrews University who made the short drive from Berrien Springs, Michigan.
 
The Crusaders came out in regular fashion by scoring 10 goals in Sundays game while Caroline Huistra in net was able to get her 2nd shut out in as many days.
 
The day started with an error in the Andrews back line ending with an own goal. The Crusaders kept pushing and put 9 more in the net with goals coming fromAvery Carr (x2), Amelia Walicki (x2), Chelsea Waller, Elena Alvarado, Brianna Vinton, Angelica Coretti and first career goal for Lily Baalman.
 
The Crusaders capped a great weekend with 21 goals for and 0 goals against! They have 1 week off before hosting NAIA Indiana University Northwest at Henderson field.
