Crusaders Cruise to a Win in Home Finale

LANSING, Mich- The Great Lakes Christian College Men's Basketball team had their final home game Tuesday evening as they took on Finlandia University. The Crusaders had a hold first half shooting just 35 percent from the floor and 20 percent from three. Despite that the Crusaders jumped out to a 32-8 lead on the Lions but the Lions responded with a 22-8 run to close the half down just 40-30. Kevin Wright and Torien Moore sparked the Crusaders in the first half with strong play off the bench.

In the second half the Crusaders found their stroke in hitting 11-22 threes and shooting 58 percent from the floor as they scored 67 points in the second half. Crusaders put five guys into double figures including DonTre Garrett scoring all 17 of his points in the second half. Jalen Huff and JaQuin Jones each scored 18 points for GLCC. Crusaders would cruise to a 107-75 win over the Lions to improve to 15-11 on the year. In the month of February Crusaders are averaging 97.5 ppg.

  • Crusaders shot 15/42 from three while the Lions shot 14/38 from three.
  • Crusaders forced 32 turnovers while committing just 6.
  • GLCC continued to share the ball with 29 assists.
  • Crusaders struggled from the Free Throw line shooting just 12/21

 

What Coach Says:

"Obviously scoring 107 in a win is great. I was really pleased with our bench and how they sparked us today particularly Torien Moore, DonTre Garrett, and Kevin Wright. I think we could clean up some things on both ends. We did a solid job in our press forcing a lot turnovers, but we did not do a great job taking away what they wanted to do. They love shooting threes and we did not defend the three point line very well." On scoring 97.5 ppg in February, "We are offensively a very gifted team. Our guys are sharing the ball well. I think we have an even higher ceiling, but obviously scoring this much makes us tough to beat."

Crusaders will travel on the road to take on Boyce College for their final conference game at 2:00pm Saturday February 18th.
