Men's basketball given three seed in nationals, will face Faith Baptist in first round

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball was awarded the number-three seed in the NCCAA Division II national championship tournament, the NCCAA announced Sunday. Great Lakes will face six-seed Faith Baptist Bible College in the quarterfinals of the tournament in Joplin, Mo. on Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. CT/3:00 p.m. ET.

GLCC was given the top at-large bid in the field after coming up short in the regional championship game against Grace Christian University on Saturday. Grace was given the number-one overall seed in the national tournament.

"You can never take for granted going to the national tournament," said head coach Richard Westerlund, "and I am so proud that my guys have this opportunity to compete for a national title. We are still trying to raise the bar in this program and qualifying for our second-straight national tournament is a big step in us becoming a consistent winner. We are excited to get to Joplin and represent our college and our region in the tournament."

Great Lakes qualified for the national tournament in 2019, losing in the finals to Grace, 84-83 in overtime. National tournament games will be streamed live on the NCCAA website for a fee.
