Isiah Reed named first-team All-American, Ja'Quin Jones to third team

JOPLIN, Mo. - The NCCAA announced on Tuesday that two Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball players were named to the NCCAA II All-American team. Junior guard Isiah Reed was named to the first team and senior guard Ja'Quin Jones was named to the third team.

Reed was given his second-straight first-team nod after leading Great Lakes in scoring with 14.8 points per game. A leader on the team and one of head coach Richard Westerlund's "road dawgs," Reed led the team in minutes, logging over 1,000 this season, and was also named first-team all-region.

Jones, a senior captain and the other of Westerlund's "road dawgs," was the team's most efficient shooter, making 52.7 percent of his field goal attempts. After dealing with an injury early in the season, Jones started 23 games for Great Lakes in 2019-20 and scored his 1,000th career point.

"I am obviously very proud of both of these guys," says Westerlund. "It's a big accomplishment to be named to one of these teams. The fact we have two guys named All-American is really special. Only one other team had two guys on an All-American team. Jay and Zay are elite players and even better people. I could not be more proud of these two guys. They're fundamental pieces to our program and I am really thankful to be their coach."

Three-seed Great Lakes will face six-seed Faith Baptist Bible College in the quarterfinals of the NCCAA II national championship tournament on Thursday at 3:00 EST in Joplin, Mo.
