Crusaders Drop First one after the Break

WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Great Lakes Christan Men's Basketball program kicked off their second semester on the road at Grace College. The Crusaders would start slow as the Lancers of GC jumped out to a 17-6 lead. Great Lakes Christian would eventually settle in. Evan Anderson and Titus Lawrence provided great sparks off the bench for the Crusaders in the first half. The Crusaders forced 9 first half turnovers which forced GC to take a time out with 2:30 left in the half. The Lancers would respond with a 6-0 run to close the half to go into the half up 15.

In the second half the Crusaders were caught flat footed again to start the half. GLCC would fight and were able to cut the Lancer lead to 16 multiple times but could never get any closer than that. Antone Matthews played well off the bench for the Crusaders scoring a career high 9 points. Trent Temple led all scorers with 29 points. Temple and Whitney Harris both surpassed the 1000 point milestone in the game. GLCC would fall 97-74.

What Coach Says:

"We dug ourselves too many holes. In the first half we spotted them 11 points and in the first seven minutes of second half we give them 12 points. We have to be better and not allow ourselves to play from behind. I thought we did a good job battle back. We could have rolled over and not competed but I thought our guys continue to fight after we got our feet under us. Bottom line, we need to start games and halves better." On Trent and Whitney, "Really proud of both of those guys hitting that milestone. I know they have been working hard and that was something they wanted to accomplish in their careers."

What's Next:

Men's Basketball will travel to play Huntington University on January 2nd. Tip off is scheduled at 4:00p.
