James Jenkins is in his first season with the Crusaders. He will serve as the head JV coach and recruiting coordinator for the men’s basketball team.

He has previously coached at Lansing Everett HS as the Head JV coach and Varsity Assistant. In this role he helped Everett reach 2 District Finals 2021 and 2022, and district semis in 2023. He also Currently serves as one of the Directors for the Indy Heat Gym Rats and has helped players earn scholarship from all levels including Division 1,2,3 and NAIA schools. 

Jenkins spent 2 seasons with the Indiana Tech Warriors Women’s Basketball Team. He worked directly with the scout team, and video breakdown while also assisting in managing all aspects of the program. Helping the team win 30+ games and reaching the NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16. In his first season with the Warriors he aided the team to a 30-win campaign, the most win in school history, the program's first-ever outright WHAC Championship and a second round appearance in the NAIA National Championship in 2018. The Lansing, Michigan native came to Indiana Tech from Central Michigan where he served as manager for the women's basketball team in 2017. His responsibilities including recording games and practices, and assisting the director of basketball operations with day to day activities.

Prior to transferring to CMU, Jenkins spent his first four years at Michigan State University as a scout team member. He assisted the coaching staff and players with daily game preparation and was also a part of the 2014 Big Ten championship squad. He also was able to gain valuable coaching experience over the years in East Lansing as he was a camp counselor and coach for the Suzy Merchant women's basketball summer camps. A former prep player at Lansing’s Everett High School under head coach Johnny Jones, Jenkins was an CAAC Blue All-Conference selection his senior year, while also orchestrating community service for the National Honor Society. Jenkins received his master’s degree from Indiana Tech in 2018 in Organizational Leadership. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Athletic Coaching from Central Michigan in 2017.

He currently resides in Lansing, Michigan, and is also a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc.
