Men's Soccer loses opener to Calumet at home

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's soccer opened its season at Henderson Field on Friday, losing 3-0 to Calument College of St. Joseph.

Calumet pulled ahead early as Tarrel Mcray finished a ball in the box to put the visitors ahead in the 10th. Jose Pacheco doubled the lead in the 38th.

GLCC's Kenan Kennedy was fouled hard by Calumet goalkeeper Jose Molina while bearing down on goal, a foul for which Molina was sent off, leaving Calumet with 10 men for the rest of the game. Kennedy was injured on the play but would return late in the second half.

After the break, Great Lakes started to put some pressure on with the extra man but could not turn the increase in possession into substantive chances. Mcray would score again for CCSJ on a counter-attack in the 77th to put the game away.

Despite playing down a man for over half the game, Calumet out-shot GLCC 18-7, putting seven shots on frame. Great Lakes had three shots on target. Jaden Talley made four saves in goal for Great Lakes while CCSJ's Grek Guzman saved the only shot he faced in relief of Molina.

Several cards were handed out in the second half as well with Zach Johnson and Harrison Case picking up yellows for GLCC and Isa Sayeed going into the book for Calumet.

The team will return to action against Andrews at home on Wednesday.
