Men's Soccer defeats Andrews for first win

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's soccer picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday, downing the visitors from Andrews University 2-1.

Andrews' Nikita Voroniuk opened the scoring with a 30th-minute goal off a David Avelar assist, giving the Cardinals a lead they would hold into halftime.

Great Lakes found their equalizer in the second half as Zach Johnson scored to level things in the 53rd minute. Thirty tense minutes later, Leonce Ndayisaba scored the winner off a ball from Reddeck McMeeken, granting GLCC its first victory of the campaign.

The teams were all but even throughout the match. Great Lakes put 10 of 18 shots on frame while nine of Andrews' 16 shots were on target. Jaden Talley made eight saves for Great Lakes to secure the win.

GLCC will be back in action on Saturday at noon in an in-region home clash with Campbellsville Harrodsburg.
