Women's Basketball Stumbles Late against Grace at Little Caesars

DETROIT - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball remains winless after failing to hold on to their late lead against rival Grace Christian University at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.

Great Lakes took an early lead and stifled the Tigers' offense, going on a 14-2 run in the first half and taking a 27-16 lead to halftime.

Great Lakes led by as many as 13 in the third, but the Tigers started to chip away, ending the quarter on an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to 40-33. An 8-0 run in the fourth, including a pair of three-pointers, gave Grace their first lead since the first quarter with 4:54 left.

The two teams traded the lead down the stretch, but an Emily Libey bucket with 1:36 left put the Tigers ahead for good, 49-47, as the Grace defense kept Great Lakes from scoring again.

Emily Libey led all scorers with 18 for Grace off the bench, including makeing three of five three-point attempts. Ashley Hoek had 10 points and nine rebounds. Megan George scored 10.

Tilly Guild scored 14 and grabbed 11 boards for Great Lakes. Kerlanda Dervil scored 13 and Mystic Striker picked up nine with 10 rebounds.

The two teams combined to shoot 39/126 (31%) from the floor. GLCC outreabounded Grace 45-38. Both teams committed 17 turnovers.
