Women's basketball routs Andrews for second consecutive win

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball went nearly two years without a win. Now they've won both of their last two games.

GLCC rode a dominant second half to a convincing 79-53 win while forcing a program-record 36 turnovers in their home finale.

Great Lakes fell behind early, but a 14-2 run in the first quarter powered the home team to a 20-16 lead after one. The teams traded the lead back and forth in the second, but Mystic Striker turned a steal into a bucket in the final seconds of the half to put GLCC up 33-31.

GLCC's defense stifled Andrews in the third, holding them to nine points in the period and launching a 15-2 run to take a double-digit lead into the fourth. They kept the pedal to the metal in the final quarter, scoring 27 points to put the game away.

Great Lakes' press proved very successful, as the Cardinals coughed up 36 turnovers. GLCC committed only six.

Randi Fitzgerald paced all scorers with 27 points. Striker picked up 24 points and 10 rebounds. Kerlanda Dervil scored 18 while grabbing eight steals. Nadira Cousins led Andrews with 18 points.

Up Next: Great Lakes will be back on the road this weekend, facing Lourdes in Sylvania, Ohio on Saturday.
