
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball kept it close against NCCAA DII #5 Grace Christian but faltered down the stretch, losing 63-50 at the Robert E. Picirilli Classic at Boyce College.
The teams traded the lead back and forth in the first, Grace holding a 20-16 advantage after the first 10 minutes. A 9-2 run by Great Lakes put them in front in the second and the two teams continued to go back and forth, ending the first half tied at 32.
GLCC's offense went cold in the third as Grace ripped off a 17-0 run to open the period and open up a huge lead. GLCC ended up scoring only five in the quarter and could not recover as Grace held on for a double-digit win.
Sakura Nakano led Great Lakes with 15 points. Mystic Striker picked up a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Allazae Lloyd scored eight, returning to action during the Classic after missing time with an injury.
Four Grace players scored in double digits, led by Emily Libey's 15 points. Taejah Cross (10 points, 10 rebounds) and Ashley Hoek (11 points, 10 rebounds) both grabbed double-doubles and Megan George scored 14.
GLCC's road schedule will continue on Wednesday as they head out to face Judson.
