Women's Basketball gets the win in overtime over GCU
Overtime Win Over Grace Christian, 64-60 
 
Lansing, MI - On January 14th, the GLCC Women’s Basketball team kicked off their NCCAA Midwest Regional games with a thrilling 64-60 overtime victory against Grace Christian University. 
 
Leading the charge was MaKensie Mondy, who recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds while adding a block, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
 
Devan Buda added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and sinking two crucial three-pointers to keep momentum in GLCC’s favor. 
 
Leah Yanko was everywhere on the court, finishing with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals, leading the defensive effort. 
 
Off the bench, Marin Abe and Jamira Shumpert provided critical contributions. Abe tallied 9 points, 2 steals, and 4 assists, while Shumpert grabbed 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and knocked down 6 points, including two timely three-pointers in regulation. 
 
O’licia Porritt played a crucial role on both sides of the ball, coming off the bench and hitting a key shot to secure the game. 
 
Defensively, the Crusaders put the clamps on Grace Christian in overtime, holding them to just four points. This lockdown defense, combined with relentless hustle on the boards and clutch execution, secured the win in front of an electric home crowd. 
 
 
The Crusaders looks to host NCCAA Midwest Regional opponent Maranatha Baptist on Friday at 5pm in the Doty Center.
