Women's Soccer Wins In Opening Match Against Crown
Great Lakes Christian College earned a dominant 2–0 victory over Crown College on Friday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida, showcasing control from start to finish. Meela York opened the match with early pressure for the Crusaders, firing a pair of shots in the first 15 minutes, but Crown goalkeeper Rachel Fuller turned both away to keep things level. The Crusaders continued to dictate possession and pepper the Polars’ box with opportunities, outshooting Crown 14–0 in the opening half without finding the back of the net. The Crusaders maintained that momentum into the second half as their midfield controlled the pace and created repeated scoring chances. On her seventh attempt of the day, York finally broke through in the 67th minute, finishing a setup from Carolina Baccili and Abbie Numerick to put GLCC ahead 1–0. Fuller’s outstanding performance kept Crown close, but the Crusaders continued applying relentless pressure. In the 87th minute, Lily Baalman provided the insurance goal, slotting home a back post finish off the pass from Abbie Numerick to extend the lead. GLCC’s defense remained composed throughout, denying Crown any space to build an attack. The Polars managed just one shot all match as the Crusaders’ back line controlled the final minutes. By the final whistle, Great Lakes Christian held a commanding 29–1 advantage in total shots and secured a confident 2–0 win.
