Women's Volleyball lose both in home doubleheader

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's volleyball faced off against Boyce College in a home-opening doubleheader on Saturday, losing both matches 3-0.

GLCC held the lead early in game one, but a 9-0 run by Boyce opened up a 12-5 lead that the visitors held to take the first set. In both the second and third sets, Boyce jumped out to an early lead and cruised to sweep Great Lakes in the first match, 3-0.

GLCC killed -.179 as a team in the game, with Laura Ganong's 5.5 points leading the offense. Chloe Herrold led the way for the Boyce offense, scoring 15.5 points, including 13 kills (.280).

In game two, GLCC fought back from a 20-15 deficit to cut the lead to one, but Boyce held on and won set one, 25-23. Great Lakes hung around in set two but never took the lead, losing 25-19, and Boyce rolled in the final frame, building a 13-point lead before closing the match by a score of 25-17.

Great Lakes offense improved in game two with a kill percentage of .071. Ganong led the team again with seven points, five coming on aces. Madison Outwin contributed 12 assists. Three Boyce players scored at least 13 points, led by Herrold's 16.5, and the team had a kill percentage of .216.

GLCC will have some time off before visiting Concordia on September 14.
