Women's Volleyball comes up short against Grace in region bout

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's volleyball had their chances against Grace Christian University on Tuesday, but lost in straight sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-16).

Grace opened up a seven-point lead in the first set and while Great Lakes cut it to four at 17-13, they could not get any closer and the visitors took set one, 25-19.

GCU took an early lead in the second set as well, but GLCC came charging back to tie it up at 11 before a 6-1 run by Grace gave them a lead they would not relinquish. The 25-17 score pushed the match to 2-0.

The third set was all Grace early as they took a commanding 13-4 lead. A five-point rally by Great Lakes once again cut the lead to four but a couple of aces kept the home team at bay and Grace was able to close it out, 25-16.

The match showed an offensive improvement for GLCC over their first clash with Grace. They scored 52 points on Tuesday compared to 37 in their previous outing, but 24 total errors and a kill percentage of -0.063 were ultimately too much to overcome.

Emma Hokansen and Madison Outwin both scored 7.5 points for GLCC and Outwin led the team with 11 digs. Alissa Nugent scored three aces.

Morgan Martin led Grace with 12 points Triston Murray scored four aces.

GLCC will be on the road later this week, taking on Spurgeon College and Calvary College in a series of matches in Kansas City.
